Two days to discover the most beautiful and sought-after ice falls, the most famous and renowned spots of the Alpes d’Oc.
The mountain guides will lead you on the discovery of the “piolet traction” on routes of different lengths, magnificent lines that have marked the history of ice climbing.
The locations we offer are:
Valle Varaita – Southern Cozie Alps
Waterfalls: “Valeria”, “Pachidermi”, “Martinet”, “Ciucchinel”, “Bonvin”, “Gastok”, etc.
Cogne / Valnontey – waterfalls: “Acheron”, “Patri”, “Repentance”, “Hard Ice”, etc.
Lillaz / Valeille – waterfalls: “Lillaz”, “Laubij”, “Hard Ice”, “Tuborg”, “Cold Couloir”, etc.
The North-West of the Alps boasts numerous areas where, in the winter months, many ice lines perfect for climbing are formed. With a wide choice of routes and difficulty, you can find a line suitable for everyone, from beginners of the “multipitch” to the most experts who want to realize some personal achievement and climb more daring and aspired lines.
1st day – Meeting in Finalborgo at P.zza P. Testa car park or motorway exit next to the chosen location – Meeting at 6:00 am (see conditions below) and transfer by own car to the activity locations.
Preparations (with instruction on materials) and ascent of multipitch route; descent and return to the hotel / accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.
2nd day – Breakfast at the hotel and luggage preparation. Approach to the climbing area, ice waterfall climb, descent. Return to the hotel, baggage claim and return home.
Waterfall crampons, 2 specific “piolet traction” axes, harness and helmet.
Technical winter clothing, crampon climbing boots.

Climbing on ice falls – mountain terrain – with any difficulty level
Climbing on routes more lengths of rope (multipitch), with from 80 to 300 m altitude approximately; various possibilities of inclination: from low to vertical / overhanging
The locations can vary and will be evaluated together with the participants, depending on the weather forecast and the conditions of the ice falls.
Valle Tanaro: Ormea, Upega, Val d’Inferno
Valle Varaita: Casteldelfino, Bellino, Pontechianale, Chianale
Valle d’Aosta: Valpelline, Gressoney Valley, Valsavarenche and Val di Rhemes
Winter, from December to January, depending on weather and ice structures conditions.
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
Maximum number of participants allowed: 2 people.
Minimum basic basic training and any level of ice climbing.
UIAGM certified Mountain Guide
Mandatory within 10 days from the date scheduled for the activity.
CANCELLATION AND MODIFICATION
The activity booked is valid for one year from the first date identified for the activity.
In case of bad weather another date will be proposed.

Guiding and teaching of climbing techniques and safety on ice for the entire duration of the activity
All missing personal material (crampons, ice axes, harnesses, helmets) if not in possession
